The Comprehensive Report on the Tater Supply to Hong

Hong called for by His Excellency and published as a

Sessional Paper No.4 of 1928 copies of which were in the

hands of Honourable Members at the meeting of the Legislativo

Council on 26th June, 1928, was referred to more particularly

in regard to the programme of work and Estimates shewn on page 11 of the Sessional Paper.

Mr. Mackie inquired if it was not intended to proceed with the Herkour Pipes first as the pipes have been obtained.

The Chainan replied that the pipes already obtained were not for the Cross Harbour Pipes but were required for bringing the water into Kowloon over the last portion of the

route from Shing lun.

Mr. Hynes inquired if the 2nd Section of the Shing un Scheme were proceeded with, would there be sufficient water

without the Aberdeen Catchment.

Mr. Henderson stated the number of gallons of water

that would be available and pointed out that it would be

slightly cheaper.

The Chainan then referred to the programe of orks

and estimates in Ir. Henderson's report of 20th February,

1928.

Ir. Hynes enquired if the Aberdeen water would be polluted by houses, etc. in the catchment area.

The Chairman replied that he thought very few more site were available in the catchment area and the present road which ended in a cul de sac would not be extended.

The Honourable Colonial Treasurer pointed out that the old Military Sanitorium cite was in the catchment area and would thus not be available for development. He also referred to the question of funds mentioning that a new loan

will be required in any case.
